I received a years worth of ZapZapMath Premium for free in exchange for an honest review. I am reviewing the Kindergarten app, but it goes up to 6th grade too. This is a fun app that I have been trying out over the last couple weeks with the kids and myself. There are lots of different things for players to explore like a city of buildings where you buy different objects with coins you earn. Choose and avatar and you can dress it in different outfits. Each day there is a section of daily missions and rewards that you need to accomplish. There is a video section for kids to watch on counting ,addition and positional words. It says you can download more, but it just takes me to app store, so a bit confused about this. The characters are cute and have robotic voices. It explains the directions well and you can click on a crazy haired scientist button if you forget. So far we have played an apple pie game, make the train cross on the tracks, and a memory game (fortune teller with crystal ball) using counting and addition and subtraction. You go through 5-10 levels in each game moving your spaceship across a line until you reach a star and get rewards. If you get something wrong, you lose a heart. If you get it right, you gain a heart. You can play some games for free without premium, but there are a lot more features available with premium. Your little character flies around in a spaceship visiting different planets and buildings. My little ones are still doing preschool math, so I have to sit with them and help them through the math problems, but once I explain and they do the training part, they usually get it. My 5 year old can get through Level 1-3 pretty much with no help, but my 4 year old needs help for everything. If your child is doing Kindergarten math, they should be able to do most of it themselves with the guidance of the program. There are little characters and hints that show what to do. Most of the time, the program reads out loud and writes the numbers and equations correctly. I did notice it wasn't always consistent. Like saying 7+3=10, instead of 7+3 10. Some of the explanations need to be slowed down too. I like that the program is at a natural speed though and not flashy. So far we really like playing it. They usually last about 10-15 minutes playing it each day. Something to look into for extract math practice if you are looking for something. I would try some out for free first.
